Leaf & Limb
The Athens-Clarke County (ACC) Solid Waste Department provides pickup of leaf and limbs to all residents in Athens-Clarke County. By diverting and mulching leaf and limb material, ACC is meeting the requirements set forth by the State in 1996 which say that no yard waste may be landfilled, thereby saving valuable space. ACC began this program in 1994.

Effective April 1, 2003
Residents will be required to use PAPER LAWN REFUSE BAGS for all grass clippings, pine straw, small brush, and leaves. No plastic bags will be accepted. Paper lawn refuse bags are available in the Home and Garden section of Target, Wal-Mart, and other local retail stores.

Effective July 1, 2008
Due to budgetary cuts, the Mayor and Commission approved a reduction in the frequency of leaf and limb collections from a six (6) week rotation to an eight (8) week rotation - effective July 1, 2008.
