Hardback Books
What do I do with hardback books that
are no longer needed?
First suggestion:
DONATE USED BOOKS, MUSICAL CD'S, AND DVDS
The Athens Regional Library System accepts gifts of
money, books, films, pamphlets and the like with the
understanding that the library may do with them as it
sees fit. These items may be taken to any library for
donation. The library staff will go through the items
and determine if they can be used in the library. If
they cannot be used in the library, they will go to
be stored for the next Friends of the Library book sale.

for additional information.
Second suggestion:
If you are interested in making sure your
books have a chance to be
re-read, contact Ed Smith by phone at 706-743-8271 or
e-mail at mediamonds2006@gmail.com.
He will re-distribute them to schools, libraries, individuals,
daycare centers, or otherwise keep them for his own
use. He will also trade with you out of his own large
collection. Pick-ups at your home by appointment.
Third suggestion:
If those books can't be reused they can
be recycled. Just bring them to the ACC Landfill - click
here for location and hours of operation. For additional
information, contact the ACC Recycling Division at (706)
613-3512.
